Watched a lot of films in the HKIFF this year (though not as many as I wish) and tonight's my last film. I wish I could have a break after that but I must finish my term papers next week :(

C.R.A.Z.Y. got the catholic film award (SIGNIS award). Didn't really expect a gay film to win. But then maybe sexuality is their theme this year, considering The Blossoming of Maximo Oliveros gets a Special Mention too.

I wanted to watch both of them but sadly they clashed with my schedule. Anyway, I'm glad the films I manage to catch seem to be much better than last year. I only fell asleep in three films and there were quite a few gems in the films I saw, such as the cute German film One Day in Europe, the fabulously funny film about British-Chinese gay men Cut Sleeve Boys (cut sleeve is a Chinese euphemism for gay), as well as the eye-opening AND entertaining documentaries Taiwan Black Movies and Midnight Movies. I just wish HKIFF had arranged one of the films featured in the documentaries to follow the documentaries themselves so that we'd get a better feel of those films and eras
