I've just finished watching Tipping the Velvet. The show would've been marvellous without the cheese. The transformational magic of the theatre is at the centre of the novel it's based on. It's great to finally see and hear all the songs and feel the magic. And they didn't shy from the steamy scenes. In fact, there seem to be a drawn-out sex scene in each episode, which appears kind of obligatory to me.

It makes me want to read the book again. But then again maybe I won't. I don't think I'll have time and the book really is rather long. Sometimes I wonder how I found time to finish it in the first place. Maybe I was procrastinating, just like what I've been doing today.

My favourite trick of procrastination is to occupy myself with something else, preferably with many different things, just to make myself feel better about not doing the one thing I should be doing. Apart from the 178-minute long Tipping the Velvet, I watched The In-Laws this morning and I kept eating or cooking or checking my bittorrent downloads. My translation course is going to start tomorrow evening. It's like the magnitude of the undertaking only hits me on the head now. I'm so afraid I'll fail myself :(

Ah. I am close chums with procrastination, in fact have spent all day nose-to-nose with him/her/it. Life is full of worthy distractions but I do eventually manage to blackmail myself and get something done because I really can't live any longer with the guilt! Not the most positive approach but it works. Oh and treats work too. So tonight I can settle down with my "England-team-qualifying-for-Euro-2004-and-touching-each-other-up-in-the-process" dvd with a clearish conscience.
