When Beckham Met Owen
Jul. 21st, 2004 10:01 pmI got an email last night telling me that the Broadway Circuit is is going to hold an Asian Film Festival. It's just another advertisement, I thought. Then I noticed the film "When Beckham Met Owen".
To quote the synopsis here:
When little Beckham met little Owen in a Hong Kong high school, what gonna happen? Michael and David are both Form 1 students and perfect partners in the school soccer team. Off the ground, they come with very distinctive personalities. Michael is still shy away from sexual matters whereas David is keen on making jokes on the subject. But the fun of soccer binds them together, until one day when Michael starts to suspect his feelings for David is something more than friendship. Michael begins to question his own sexual identity and even confesses to his mother about his homosexuality. With the astonishing performances of the two young actors and the support of a big cast of professional talents, it is undoubtable that independent filmmaker Adam Wong will score a great goal for his directorial debut feature.
I screamed OMG!, albeit in my head only, because it was 2am and I didn't want to wake my parents.
Needless to say, I dashed to buy the tickets for this film right after work today. And I'll definitely buy the DVD when it comes out (which it undoubtedly will, and probably only a couple of months after theatre distribution, since this is Hong Kong)
