20 Years Have Passed…

The first generation born after the 1989 Student Movement will have become university students by now. It’s hard to stomach because I still remember all schools in Hong Kong going on strike to support the student movement, even though I was just a primary school student then.

I’ve never been really political active offline but I’m definitely going to the candle-light vigil this year.

They're predicting turnout to be high this year, which is good. It was disappointingly small last year.

Things get old easily, esp. in HK. But the 20th anniversary plus the rather good build-up this year should make this a memorable one, I think.

I'm pretty sure that last year's turnout was more due to the rain, the pre-Olympics heightened security, and related scare tactics than anything.
