Movie Binge

Stressed out from work, so I did I what do best - run away from everything. And here is what I have to show for it, all the movies I've watched these two weekends:
Devour
A nice little horror movie. Jensen is in almost every scene so that's enough pretty to make me watch the whole movie already. A bonus point is Jensen's genuine smiles and laughters in the early part of the movie. It's so rare to see him in parts that are happy.
Push
I watched for Colin Ford but stayed watching for the strange mix at work there. It's weird movie, with many people speaking weird Cantonese. I see why some people compare it to Jump but I find this one quite entertaining - as long as you switch off your brain a little of course.
Constantine
Why didn't I watch this movie before? It's got to be because of Keanu Reeves. I didn't know this movie is actually good. And gorgeous.
Starrbooty
Crazy campy goodness that's much easier to get than John Waters' films. RuPaul is gorgeous as always (although I was shocked to see that there are actually some outfits he doesn't rock). There are a lot more penis and ass shots than expected and Michael Lucas's cameo is memorable to say the least.
Pirates of Silicon Valley
It's interesting to watch this movie now because so much has happened in the 10 years that's passed. Despite the sloppy script, it's an interesting movie about how Apple and Microsoft started and the relationships between Steve Job and Steve Wozniak, and Steve Job and Bill Gates. In fact, perhaps because of lacking script, it makes me really yearn for some decent fan fiction to fill in the space.
Speak
Some parts of it touch me like The Perks of Being a Wallflower did and Kristen Stewart looks cool here like Angela Chase never did. A large chunk of it feels like a not very well done highschool movie but there are lots of little things that are rare and real and make it a movie worth checking out.
Forever Fever / That's The Way I Like It
Charming little Singaporean movie of the nostalgic Saturday Fever era with a transsexual subplot thrown in. I'm just not in the right frame of mind to like this movie, I guess.
The Man You Had in Mind
Interesting and heart-warming. I like that this documentary features many different kinds of couples, not just those made up of thirty-something professional men that are commonly seen on TV.
Avril
There's a lot of charm in this movie, like the cute and likeable leads Sophie Quinton and Clément Sibony. The central story of the nun finding secular life is so delicately handled that it's so rare and feels so real.

Date: 2009-06-29 01:01 am (UTC)All I've got to say about "Pirates of the Silicon Valley" is that...there was slash for it. I forgot how I came by it or who wrote it, but I definitely remembered how shocked I was. Where did you find it, btw? I've thought about watching it, but could never find it...

Date: 2009-06-29 02:25 pm (UTC)I saw an article on Rotten Tomatoes entitled "10 Movies for the Geeks" or something like that. This one sounded intriguing so I went and downloaded it. I don't regret watching it although I didn't seem to gain much more from it than from the documentaries I watched before. I found this Bill/Steve series (http://jezebelslade.wordpress.com/2009/01/15/index-of-sick-and-wrongitude/) via Google. But really there should be more fics out there about this pairing if there are fics about Mac and PC! :) (BTW, I really do love Mac/PC - why aren't there more fics?...)
